The historic building's architecture is stunning and full of character.

The carpets in the hallways were heavily stained, contributing to an overall feeling of neglect.

Great spot for a group trip! The hotel really cares about accessibility and cleanliness, and the breakfast was a nice start to each day. Perfect location for hitting up local attractions.

Had issues with noise from adjacent rooms, which disrupted our sleep.

great for weekend strolls near eateries and attractions

I loved being just a few steps away from Selfieville and the Monterey Bay Coastal Trail, making it super easy to explore and soak in the beautiful coastal views. the choice of restaurants nearby, like Rosine's and Plumes Coffee House, really added to the convenience of dining choices during my stay. As a solo traveler, the comfortable room was a nice bonus after a long day of walking and discovering the city, but I did notice that the carpets in the hallways could use a little attention.

The Monterey offers spacious rooms, and I particularly enjoyed the cozy ambiance enhanced by the working fireplace in the queen double room. The continental breakfast exceeded my expectations with a variety of fresh fruits, croissants, bagels, and excellent coffee. Additionally, the hotel's location was ideal, being conveniently situated near the conference center.

Noise from adjacent rooms disrupted my stay.

pleasant stay with room for improvement

The lovely old building exudes charm, and my suite provided a comfortable space to relax. I enjoyed the interesting old town location, surrounded by good shops and restaurants. Though the staff were helpful, they could have been more engaged in their service. I appreciated the spaciousness of my suite, which made my two-night stay enjoyable.

Charming, historic vibe with fantastic sunlight. Perfect spot for snapping pics and easy to explore nearby attractions.

If that was an upgrade, I’d hate to see the downgrade—hardly any sleep thanks to street noise!

the location is fantastic, right in the heart of downtown. we stayed in a historic king room, which had beautiful, old-fashioned furniture. the ambiance of the hotel is lovely, and it’s close to many restaurants and pubs, making it easy to explore the area.
